<p>5. Reimbursement of Travel Expenses</p>
<p>Fellows are required to purchase their air ticket and to pay for local transportation to and from their arrival airport themselves.</p>
<p>ALL fellows are required to submit a Camp Report to the APNG Secretariat by 10 March 2011. Upon receipt and confirmation of your report, the APNG Secretariat will refund your airfare and local transportation expenses.</p>
<p>6. Confirmation of Acceptance</p>
<p>Please read carefully ALL of the conditions of support above.</p>
<p>If fellows wish to accept the Camp Fellowship under these conditions, please reply in confirmation to the Local Secretariat at the address below NO LATER THAN 21 January 2011. We would only send the acceptance statement for visa application after fellows accepted the fellowship. As the schedule for the 13th APNG Camp is held on February (which is usually held on the month of July), we appreciate the cooperation on confirming the participation to the camp as early as possible.</p>
<p>If the acceptance is not received by the deadline above, the fellowship will be cancelled and assigned to another applicant.</p>

<h3>From Airport to Venue</h3>
<p>There is a high speed airport express connecting airport to City central. You may take the train from airport to Hong Kong Central and then further take the MTR to the venue in Wan Chai. The fare for around trip is 180 HKD (around 24 USD) For more details such as timetable, please refer to <a href="http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/airport_express/intro_index.html">MTR airport express website</a>.</p>
<p>You may also choose to take a taxi from the airport to Wan Chai. The fee is around 275 HKD.</p>
<h3>Local Public Transport</h3>
<p>The <a title="MTR Website" href="http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/homepage/cust_index.html" target="_blank">MTR</a> Island Line is an underground network that services Hong Kong Island, except for the western area.</p>
<p>Hong Kong&#8217;s tram systems are among the oldest forms of public transport in Hong Kong and serve as a major tourist attraction. Hong Kong Tramways generally run from 05:00 &#8211; 23:00 daily across the northern coastline. Peak Tramway carries commuters and tourists to the upper levels of Hong Kong Island, offering spectacular harbour and mountain views along the way.</p>
<p>Hong Kong Island connects to the Kowloon Peninsula via two road tunnels and two MTR tunnels. There is no bridge between the Island and mainland.</p>
<h2>Visas</h2>

<p>Many countries have a visa-free period for entry and travel within Hong Kong SAR.</p>
<p>If you are not eligible for the visa waiver, or you intend to stay beyond your visa-free period, you must apply for a visa before entering Hong Kong SAR.</p>

<h3>Visa Eligibility Requirements</h3>
<p>An application for a visa to enter Hong Kong for a visit or transit may be favorably considered if:</p>
<ul>
<li>The applicant&#39;s (your) bona fides are not in doubt;</li>
<li>You have adequate funds to cover the duration of your stay without working;</li>
<li>The application is for a transit visa, and the applicant holds an onward ticket to another destination (other than Mainlaind China or Macao SAR)</li>
</ul>
<h3>Application Procedures</h3>
<p>Visa applicants may download the application form ID 1003A from the <a href="http://www.immd.gov.hk/">HKSAR Immigration website</a>.</p>
<p>Applicants residing in overseas countries or territories may submit their application forms together with relevant supporting documents in person to the nearest Chinese diplomatic and consular mission in their home country.</p>
<p>Applicants who hold foreign passports but are living in Mainland China may submit the application materials to the Immigration Division of the Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing:</p>

<p>To shorten the processing time, application materials can be sent by fax to (852) 2824 1133. However, the original copy of the completed application should be sent immediately to the Hong Kong Immigration Department by air mail.</p>
<h3>Conditions of Stay</h3>
<p>A person permitted to enter the HKSAR as a visitor may generally engage in the following business-related activities:</p>
<ul>
<li>concluding contracts or submitting tenders</li>
<li>examining or supervising the installation/packaging of goods or equipment</li>
<li>participating in exhibitions or trade fairs (except selling goods or supplying services direct to the general public)</li>
<li>settling compensation or other civil proceedings</li>
<li>participating in product orientation</li>
<li>attending short-term seminars or other business meetings</li>
</ul>
<h3>Payment of Fees</h3>
<p>The application fee, in the form of a cashier order or a bank draft, should be sent together with the application materials.</p>
<p>The fee should be made payable to &quot;The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region&quot;. No cash should be sent with the application.</p>

<h3>Processing Time</h3>
<p>Expect the visa application to take four weeks to process, upon receipt of payment and all required documents. The Immigration Department will not be able to begin processing unless all required documents are received.</p>
<h3>Warning</h3>
<p>It is an offence to make false statements or representations to an immigration officer. A person who knowingly and wilfully makes a statement or gives information which he/she knows to be false or does not believe to be true shall be guilty of an offence under the Laws of Hong Kong, and any such visa/entry permit issued or permission to enter or remain in the HKSAR granted shall have no effect.</p>

<p><strong><span id="more-44"></span>Overview:</strong><br />
The 13th Asia Pacific Next Generation (APNG) Camp will be held on 21-25 February 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wanchai North, Hong Kong. The 13<sup>th</sup> Camp will be held in conjunction with APRICOT-APAN 2011, the first ever joint event of APRICOT and APAN making it the biggest internet conference in Asia Pacific.</p>
<p>Theme: <em>“One with Asia Pacific and Beyond”</em><em> </em></p>
<p>The APNG Camp is:</p>
<ul>
<li>Where future Internet leaders in the AP Region meet together.</li>
<li>Where AP Seniors and the Next Generation learn and work together.</li>
<li>Where AP perspective of the Internet is shared and discussed.</li>
</ul>
<p>Keeping the fact in our mind that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, APNG and its camp activities are not only empowering the Next Generation who has the power of developmental assets and an innovative and fresh point of view on Internet Technology but also bonding and strengthening relationship among senior leaders and the youth to share and discuss over perspectives of today’s Internet in Asia Pacific.</p>
<p>The very FIRST camp was held in Bangkok in year 2002 and even since its inception, we had successfully organized ten camps in the past whereas the recent one was the 12th Camp organized in Hiroshima, Japan in 2010. We are hoping to celebrate another important milestone in APNG history and achievements with 13th APNG Camp in Hong Kong, China next year.</p>
<p><strong><em>The APNG Camp Committee now invites qualified applicants to apply for fellowship funding to participate in the 13</em></strong><sup><strong><em>th</em></strong></sup><strong><em>APNG Camp in Hong Kong, SAR.</em></strong></p>
<p><strong>Who can participate?</strong></p>
<p>The APNG Camp Fellowship Program targets personnel from developing countries who are actively involved in Internet development, in any of the following roles:</p>
<ul>
<li>Young network architects/developers/engineers.</li>
<li>Young decision makers in government, educational, non-government, commercial, non-profit sectors related to Internet development.</li>
<li>Young on-line activists in (and not limited to) social science, business, environment, gender equivalence, entertainment, etc.</li>
</ul>

<li><strong>Fellowship for International Applicants</strong><br />
Fellowship package will cover</li>
</ol>

<li>camp registration fees</li>
<li>local accommodation</li>

<li>roundtrip cheapest economy airfare (Full/Partial)</li>
<li>meals: Lunch, Refreshments and Dinner will be provided during camp period</li>

<li><strong>Fellowship for Local Applicants</strong><br />
This is a special fellowship package to encourage participation from Hong Kong youth who are interested/ involved in Internet Technology Development. Local fellowship package will cover</li>
</ol>
<ul>
<li>camp registration fee</li>
<li>local transportation (train-fare/bus-fare) if necessary</li>
<li>meals: Lunch, Refreshments and Dinner will be provided during camp period</li>
</ul>
<p><em>The final grant size is determined according to final costs and available funding, of which successful applicants will be duly informed.</em></p>
<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong><br />
The fellowship recipients will be selected based on:</p>
<ol>
<li>Residency in a developing country</li>
<li>Full-time student of a university or college (public or private), or</li>
<li>Employed by Internet-related company and in the age less than 35 years old</li>
<li>Willingness to return to APNG Camp as a presenter or trainer in future</li>
<li>Willingness and capability to present your country’s culture/heritage/traditions/costume</li>
<li>Presentation materials and a 2-page paper submitted for APNG Camp “Call for Presentation”. The presentations/papers are expected to align with one of the following topics:</li>
</ol>
<p>i.            Internet Technology</p>
<p>ii.            e-Culture and Green ICT</p>
<p>iii.            Ubiquitous Networking</p>
<p>iv.            Disaster Management and e- Health</p>
<p>*The 13<sup>th</sup> APNG Camp will revive the Internet history Museum Working Group</p>
<p><em>Applicants from any part of the world will be considered, however it is expected that the majority of fellows selected will be from Asia-Pacific region.</em></p>
<p><em><em>All applications will be reviewed by the APNG Fellowship Selection Committee and only those applications will be evaluated who meet the above</em><em>‐</em><em>mentioned selection criteria and submitted to the camp secretariat within the defined timelines. The final decision of selecting any applicant is with Camp Chair / Executive Committee.</em></em></p>

If you meet the criteria for fellowship mentioned above and you are interested in joining the future AP Leaders, we encourage you to apply to the 13<sup>th</sup> APNG Camp. Please prepare the following documents and submit them to us within the applications deadline mentioned.</p>
<p>1.    Fellowship application form (Attached is the application form)</p>
<p>2.    A two page paper (Attached is the paper template)</p>
<p>3.    Presentation file (please aim 15-20 minutes presentation time including question and answer)</p>
<p>4.    Local camp fellows are required to complete the local camp reports and submit to Ms Wit Hmone Latt (email) with theirfellowship applications not later than 10 November 2010.</p>

<h2>CALL FOR PAPERS</h2>
<p>The 13<sup>th</sup> APNG Camp will continue the tradition of promoting collaboration among multiple areas. We encourage submissions of high quality papers and presentations on all topics in the general areas of ICT. Topics of interest in thefour tracks include:<br />
<strong>1. </strong><strong>E</strong><strong>‐</strong><strong>Culture and Green ICT</strong></p>
<p>One of the greatest threats to our society and the Next Generation is the global warming. It is estimated that the CO2 emissions of the ICT industry alone exceeds the carbon output of the entire aviation industry. The ICT industry and research community has a collective responsibility to address this problem. With a firm belief that Asia Pacific Next Generation will stand up to be the leaders in reducing Global Warming effect, protecting the world’s nature and climate to create a more sustainable development for our people with a sustainable environment, Internet Culture Working Group (WG) introduces a new focus for discussion at the 12th APNG Camp: Green ICT, and thus, changing our WG name to E‐Culture and Green ICT to emphasize the importance of being environmentally responsible to AP‐ ICT users and developers.</p>
<p>At the 12th APNG Camp, E‐Culture and Green ICT Working Group would like to invite<br />
candidates who are interested in presenting their professional or academic research<br />
experiences (case studies/research papers) on the development of ICT and its implications in the Asia and Pacific to attempt to bring together a complete spectrum of social issues encountered regionally. The focus areas for the e‐Culture &amp; Green ICT WG include (but are not limited to):</p>

4. Disaster Management and e</strong><strong>‐ Health</strong></p>
<p>Asia and the pacific region is routinely exposed to almost every type of hazards, mainly natural. There should be a considerable scope for reducing hazards and improving disaster management in the region. In this work group we are mainly focusing how we can improve the Disaster Management and eHealth in the region as the joint effort. Following topics were discussed in earlier camps and would like to continue further discussions on those topics.</p>
<p>- Bring an awareness of the need for DM and available standards, technologies to the participants.<br />
- Brain storm on types of disasters, categorize them and how would IT requirement differ.<br />
- Promote DM solutions in respective countries of the participants.<br />
- Form a group skilled in DM solutions who can volunteer to deploy and train in the event of a disaster.<br />
